Swan crew reflect on a month of stunning traditional sailing around the west coast of Scotland, St Kilda, Orkney and Shetland

The Swan Trust has received thank you messages and photos from local schools following half day trips taken earlier in the year.

Sail Training Shetland is supporting twelve young adults to experience an inspiring voyage at sea as trainees. Ten will train onboard Swan and two on Statsraad Lehmkuhl, taking part in The Tall Ships Races 2019, organised by Sail Training International.

Historic Faroese Boats, celebrating the centenary of the Faroese flag, were greeted by The Swan Trust and presented with a copy of The Cod Hunters, written by Swan Trustee John Goodlad, detailing the close fishing links between Shetland and Faroe. The Faroese boats included Westward Ho and Johanna.

Swans new mizzen yard was delivered to Shetland last week aboard a very unique vessel.

Demonstrating the Swan Trust’s strong connection with young people, Swan is currently hosting a number of youth sails.

Swan is open to the public this Sunday, 5th May, 2-4pm for tours and an informal music session

The Swan Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Sita Goudie as its Business Development and Marketing Officer.  Mrs Goudie brings a wealth of experience to the role, which will help the Trust remain a viable Charitable Enterprise. 

A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to work with The Swan Trust, as it has secured funding from Scottish Government, Shetland LEADER Programme 2014-2020 and Highlands and Islands Enterprise towards a project to recruit a Business Development Marketing Officer.
