  • Swan Trust Represented at Arts & Business Scotland Winter Forum

10 February 2020

The Swan Trust was represented at the recent Arts and Business Scotland Winter Development Forum in Edinburgh, where they were invited to give a presentation on their sponsorship with John Lawrie Group, which helped fund the #LitterCUBES project undertaken in 2019.

The event, which was attended by over 230 delegates, celebrated culture and business creative partnerships, with presentations from 6 projects which had received both business sponsorship and Arts and Business match funding. Along with The Swan Trust and John Lawrie Group, the partnerships represented were:

  • The Edinburgh International Festival and Bonhams
  • Indepen-dance and Hanlon Builders Ltd
  • Scottish Chamber Orchestra and 20/20 Productions Europe
  • V&A Dundee and NCR
  • The Royal Lyceum Theatre and The Famous Grouse

Sita Goudie, Business Development and Marketing Officer for the Swan Trust, said: “Hearing about all the creative partnerships was inspirational – the projects ranged from a few thousand to hundreds of thousands of pounds, and the cultural aspects of the projects also varied. It was good to see what attracted sponsors, and interesting that in 5 of the 6 projects presented the sponsor actually approached the cultural organisation.

While, monetary wise, our project was one of the smallest, it was well received. Many people commented on what a great project it was, and what a beautiful boat Swan is. We have also had a couple of enquiries about possible projects/charters and a number of people interested in bunks on our trips this year, which is an added bonus.”

Following the forum, Mrs Goudie and the other presenters met with the Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Tourism and External Affairs, Fiona Hyslop MSP, before she opened the Culture and Business Fund Evening Reception.

The Trust would like to thank John Lawrie Group again for their sponsorship and Arts and Business Scotland for their match funding, as well as opportunities such as this to further promote the Trust and Swan.
